3,000 Strong Gets a Boost with a Big Challenge

A group of anonymous donors has issued a challenge gift for the College as part of the new 3,000 Strong campaign. If 3,000 alumni make a gift during fiscal year 2013, which ends June 30th, and we meet our goal of the 3,000 Strong campaign, this group will contribute a total of $200,000 in support of the College.

“This is very simple,” said Dr. Lee King ’94, VP for Institutional Advancement. “We need to achieve 3,000 alumni donors by June 30th to get Hampden-Sydney back on track with its alumni participation rates. When we achieve that, there will be an extra $200,000 in gift income from these anonymous donors to Hampden-Sydney.” According to Dr. King, the impact of increased alumni giving participation and the added $200,000 is significant. “Fiscal year 2007 was our last year with over 3,000 alumni donors. Reaching the 3,000 alumni donors mark will take us back to pre-recession giving levels, and the $200,000 challenge in extra funding provides a vital boost to the College’s finances, especially for student financial aid. This additional funding will truly strengthen the College, creating greater flexibility as our faculty and staff plan for the next academic year.”
